in with the old

Amsnow
The 1969 Chevy Camaro SS drop-top… it is a classic. My favorite muscle-car of all time and many nights I have dreamed about owning one in black with white racing stripes. Unfortunately, the folks buying and selling at Barrett-Jackson and I aren’t exactly on the same income level! However, that is the great thing about snowmobiling, you can have one of your favorite classic vintage sled beauties at a reasonable cost, or restore one in a reasonable amount of time.

In this issue we have an exclusive section devoted to re-living our youth and introducing the next generation of snowmobilers to the coolness of old sleds. Metal flake paint jobs, real steel and iron, and simple joys, they are all here.

In addition to our love of old machines, we have our annual report from the New York Shootout in Woodgate, N.Y. Folks out east know this event well and if you’ve never spent a Friday morning with a couple thousand of your best friends watching the newest stock and modified machines get tested in the first snow of the season, you are missing out! But don’t worry, that is why we have all the info from the event in this issue!

This is also the time of the season that us editor-types get really anxious to see what is coming for 2015. We always like to throw out our (and your) hypothesis in this issue (see Cool News) and then see how close we were once we get introduced to them in the March issue. What do you think the next big thing will be in snowmobiling for 2015? Finally, we have a comparison test on 800 trail sleds. Is the new Polaris Indy 800 the new king of the trail? Read on to find out!
