how to run your stock sled on asphalt

Keep it cool!
Riding in summer also requires a different cooling set-up.

A stock sled will have enough volume in the system to do a run and come back to an ice-filled cooling tank, while mod sleds often carry an additional "cool can" for extra water volume. Cool down equipment can vary from the most sophisticated to the simplest, but many competitors make do with the largest cooler they can buy at any discount chain and then throw a small radiator, cooling extrusion or cooper coil inside with water and a lot of ice.

This is then coupled to quick-release fittings on the snowmobile cooling hoses, and pumped through with a battery-operated pump. Some good old ingenuity can get you set up with a cooling tank for less than $200, or you can go as fancy as your creative forces and budget allows.

Cost?
Going simple with a 15-inch track, extra wheels for your stock suspension, Wahl Brother ski set up and your own coolers could put you in business for less than $1,500
Go fancy with a narrow track and a full pro suspension and you may look at twice that.

Compare that to what guys spend on their cars and motorcycles at the drag strip, and you have a great performance advantage. You also have one more advantage over motorcycles - when it starts snowing, you don't have to put it in the garage and wait for spring to ride again!
