how to ride smart

Amsnow
It is understandable that riders across the snowbelt are anxious for the snow to fall so we can hit the trails, after the no-snow season we experienced last year. But keep in mind that excitement is no excuse for careless and unsafe riding.

The following hand signals are approved by the American Council of Snowmobile Associations and the organization offers some suggestions you should keep in mind once you are able to get out there and enjoy the sport.

1. Safety can be as easy as using hand signals.

2. Set some ground rules with your group. Make sure every snowmobiler realizes they are responsible for the rider behind them.

3. Be courteous when you ride.

4. If there are signs posted to stay on the trail, then stay on the trail!

5. Don't consume alcohol while you are snowmobiling.
