Minnesota's Sno Barons Snowmobile Club will honor John Seviola, who passed away May 12, by renaming its snowmobile races the John Seviola Memorial Race for the 42nd Annual Hay Days, Sept. 6 and 7.

Meshell Gorsegner, who worked alongside John at Hay Days throughout the years and is now Assistant Race Director, says, "We would like to honor John for all of the hard work and dedication he put into the club and for how much he has touched each and every one of our lives. To John, being a volunteer meant hard work, time commitment and generosity toward others. He made his volunteer work a priority and had a good time doing it. It is amazing how one person can be such a large part of our club. We will miss him." John was an integral part of Hay Days and its promotion.

There also are a few changes for this September's two-day event. There is a new procedure for people signing up for the swap meet. Swappers now must participate in a survey (see the flyer PDF linked at the bottom of this story) if they are attending. The survey will give organizers an idea of how many swappers to anticipate in upcoming years. Starting in 2009, swappers will have to reserve their admission online to attend, meaning if you don't reserve that early ticket you will not get in.
