halls of fame meet

Board members of the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame met with Racing Hall of Fame board members on July 14 in Superior, WI, to discuss possible ways the two halls of fame could work together to better promote the history of snowmobiling.

It was determined that both groups share a desire to preserve the historical aspects of the sport and could find ways to work together in the future.

ISHOF, which is located in Grand Rapids, MN, is currently working in conjunction with an area developer to be an integrated part of a proposed convention center complex that includes a motel and golf course.

According to ISHOF president Elmer Cone, "We are also looking at a local site for housing artifacts of snowmobiling's past that would tie into the hall of fame facility in the convention center."

The snowmobile racing hall of fame operates a racing museum in the Eagle River, WI, area, but is pursuing plans to move it to nearby St. Germain.
