grand prix by boatel

The Grand Prix was manufactured in Mora, Minnesota by Boatel in 1970
and 1971 only. Their styling claim-to-fame was the "butterfly" steering. Other than that, the sleds were nothing more than conventional for the time period. Their biggest sales stumbling block, in my opinion, was the high price. At a time when other sleds were selling for around $1,000, the Grand Prix with its 744cc engine was sitting on the showroom floor with a price tag of $1,895. The 440cc version of the Grand Prix sold for $1,695.

Both sled models featured JLO-Rockwell engines. It should be pointed out that these sleds offered no options-everything was standard- and well they should be at that asking price. The 1971 version was very much like the 1970 except for three things. The sled '71 featured CCW's 399cc engine which produced 30 hp, the cab had been changed slightly and ski shocks had been added.
