glenn hall dominates gives team arctic big win

The rules are simple in Open Stock: bring your best stock sled and see how you do. Team Arctic did and absolutely owned the class at this year's COSDRA Woody's Top Gun Shootout.
Seven of the twelve qualifiers for eliminations were riding 2003 Firecat F7s, including the top three seeds.
Sitting in the top qualifier position was Glenn Hall from Gordon, Wisconsin. He ran a 5.412 at 88.85 miles per hour in qualifying to secure his position. The second qualifier was Bob Kromelbein, on an F7, at 5.502. Third qualifier was Peter Big Chair, again on an F7, at 5.503.
Hall claimed the victory and the Open Stock Championship, posting an amazing 5.354-second pass at 90.47 miles per hour-both the quickest and fastest trip down the track for the day!
"The conditions were just the way I like them," said Hall. "My practice track at home has a hard clay start so when I come to a race and the track has the same kind of clay, I know it's going to be a pretty good day for us. Plus, the cold air helped drop the times down even more.
"Last year I ran a 5.34 at the World Series in Greenville," continued Hall. "That is the quickest run I've made with my F7. But the 5.35 in the finals today is my best time so far this year on this sled. Arctic Cat has really shown how important power to weight is for acceleration. For the 500-foot track, the lightweight F7 is the best sled."
"I think we again showed that a lighter, more efficient total package can hold its own against higher displacement sleds," added Team Arctic Race Manager Brian Sturgeon. "Glenn Hall worked his butt off to win the Woody's Top Gun Open Stock Championship and we're very proud of his accomplishment.
Our whole team had a good showing in Open Stock, with over half of the qualifiers riding Firecats. That's awesome in any class, but this was Open Stock-- a guy could enter on any of the competition's stockers but as we saw today, he should be on an F7 to be competitive!"
