GOGGLE FACE-OFF - 509 VS. HABERVISIONSinister Goggles and Prima GogglesThese two sets of goggles were what we used almost all of last year and there's been plenty of talk on the streets about both. Here are our unbiased thoughts.
The Sinister goggles from the snowmobiling fanatics at 509 are perfect sunny weather goggles and great for those days out West when you really need to cut through the sun glare and spare your eyes. You'll want to try a different lens than the standard reflective one for low-light. The snowmobile specific goggles have a hinged mount strap to help seal the goggles into your helmet and the turbo vent system kept them from fogging even when we were extremely sweaty after making big hillclimbs. The goggle strap also has good anti-slip silicon on it to keep the goggles in one place on your helmet. These take a lickin' and keep on tickin'! Price: $75. More info:
www.509films.comThe Habervision prima goggles are good all around goggles. We've worn the dual pane, polarized optic orange lenses on super sunny days and in flat light on cloudy days and they work well in a variety of conditions. The slim fit of the goggles is nice for making a good seal inside most helmets as well. They are not true moto-style goggles though and durability is sacrificed some for the slim form. Price: $140, or $65 if you order online and become a member of the Web site. More info:
