I n 1969 you could get this full-size two passenger Fox Trac for $598. A good deal in 1969, that sled would be priced at $2,800 in Year 2000 dollars.
Made in Janesville, Wisconsin by Fox Corporation, the sled was said to have a top speed of 40 miles per hour. The "Special" was one of 11 Fox Trac models available that season. You had a choice of track widths ranging from a standard 15-inch size up to a 20-inch wide track. Powerplants from JLO and Hirth ranged in power from 12.5 horses to a whopping 35 horsepower.

Sno*Jet

Originally these blue machines were produced in the East before eventually being built at the Arctic Cat factory in Thief River Falls, MN under the stewardship of Kawasaki.
Ironically the early Sno*Jets used Yamaha power. Indeed, one of the most successful oval track racers ever built was the Yamaha-powered Thunder Jet campaigned by Michigan driver Jim Adema. By their end run, Sno*Jet had Kawasaki power and were incorporated into the Kawasaki model line as Drifters.
Sno*Jet pioneered lightweight components and a swept upward runningboard for deep powder agility.
