The US Forest Service has a series of open houses planned in the coming days to discuss the Gallatin National Forest Travel Plan. This plan will include off-highway motorized recreation access, which means snowmobiles, ATVs and other fun activities. In short, the open houses are designed to gather public comment on the future direction of the Gallatin Range.
The Montana Sierra Club chapter is mounting a major push to its members to get out and speak against motorized access to these public lands, which include the Bridgers, Crazy Mountains and the Madison Range. If you're in the region during one of the open houses, please stop in and speak with the Forest Service representatives about your enjoyment and responsible usage of these areas.
All open houses are from 3 to 7 pm at the following locations:
Tuesday, October 8. Big Timber Ranger Station, Big Timber.
Wednesday, October 9. Holiday Inn, 5 Baxter Road, Bozeman.
Tuesday, October 15. Cooke City Fire Hall, Cooke City.
Thursday, October 17. Yellowstone Inn, 1515 W. Park, Livingston.
Thursday, October 24. Yellowstone Conference Center. 315 Yellowstone Ave, West Yellowstone.
