Many times I've had to look stupid before I could look cool - at least in my own mind.
My first ride on a Snow Hawk Outlaw was different. The potential to look uncool was there with this tough-looking new liquid-cooled 600cc H.O. hybrid snowmobile/motorcycle.
I mean, unlike a snowmobile, Snow Hawks run on a single ski and a narrow track.
Certainly I'd checked these machines out at sled shows and snocross events since they entered the market in 2001. Since I've had more than my fair share of sleds, motorcycles, jet-skis, ATVs and such, I figured I could ride a SnowHawk just fine.
Well, I finally got my chance in Idaho when I jumped on an Outlaw halfway down a mountainside during a ride with our mountain staff.
Their advice? Hammer the throttle if you get into trouble. Easy enough, right?
