Western test rider, Kevin Allred rode the 900 1M and gathers these thoughts.

He said when he approached the 1M, he knew he was walking to familiar territory - he owns an '01 MC 800 and has logged plenty of miles on our '02 MC 800 EFI test sled as well. But the familiarity ended there, he said.

"The motor has unbelievable torque. When I stand on the throttle, the motor keeps building its monster torque, no 800 has ever felt like this."

He also found the new traction aids on the wide boards fully useful. "My foot never slipped," he said.

What Kevin praised was the sled's light feel. "That is what this Cat is all about. I enjoy riding the 800 Cats, and have never felt they 'felt' heavy, but this 900 1M is responsively light. It is a spectacular ride." He said the effort to flick the 1M Cat around was minimal. "Its flat track-to-snow approach angle, due to the dropped and rolled chaincase, make this a nimble Cat, especially again, with its light weight." He says he hates to keep harping on this but, he stresses, "light is good, it is superb."

Lastly, he says, as a Cat customer, this is what Cat owners want.
