firecats roar loud at lake preston

Team Arctic Cat greeted the 2003 Grass Drag season with a grin and some wins in nearly every class it entered at the South Dakota snowmobile Drag Racing Association's race at Lake Preston. The Firecat F7 EFI proved to be a force to be reckoned with at the event.

It all began with Janelle Bakken who swept the 500, 600 Single and 600 Multi stock classes on her Firecat. Then, Glenn Hall piloted his F6 to second place in both 600 classes.

In the mod sled event, Arctic Cat placed first or second in every class entered. John Sedor picked up first in the Improved Stock 600 and 700 classes with his modified ZRT 600. He then pitted that sled against the Prostock 700 field, taking second place.

Arctic Cat success founds its way to the 1000cc classes, taking first and second in the Prostock 1000 and King of the Hill classes thanks to Hall and Kelly Shilts.
"There's nothing better than a good win," said Brian Sturgeon, race manager, "except for maybe a whole day of good wins."

Team Arctic Cat attributes its wins at Lake Preston to two factors: drivers and the powerful, light weight Firecat.

In the end, Arctic Cat took home 13 wins, 12 second places and 3 thirds.

Yamaha grabbed four wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds. Ski-Doo followed with three wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds. Rounding out the competition was Polaris who earned 1 second place finish and 2 thirds.
