Nitrous help
Q:
I have an Arctic Cat F7 that we turned into a drag sled. The motor is a Stock 700 with the head milled to give it 186psi on each cylinder. It has a +2 degree timing key, V-force reeds and a BoonDocker box. That’s it for the motor mods, but several people have told me that I could put 30 to 50 shots of nitrous on this with no problems. That doesn’t sound right to me though, how about you guys? – Cat Rage

A:Maybe if you run 114 octane race gas, but with 186 psi and then with adding NOS it sounds like you are asking for problems to me. Compression and NOS really do not mix. If you still want to run the NOS maybe start with a smaller shot and see how much you can get away with. 30 to 50 would be OK with the stock head though and no timing key. - Speedwerx

I have a 1978 Yamaha Exciter that runs great and is super clean, but I can’t get the lights to work. I am not familiar with Yamies. The sled starts on the first or second pull all the time. All the bulbs work and all connections are clean. I don’t know which wires are the hot wires and ground wires. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you! – ACR

A:If none of the lights work I would be looking for a dead shorted wire somewhere.  Popular places for bad wires on these sleds were the taillight wires, wires that go to the handlebars and the wires to the hood. - Hauck Power Sports
