FAST Inc, recently held its second annual dealer meeting at the Giants Ridge ski resort, near the company's Eveleth, Minnesota base. The fifth manufacturer showed a total of 12 models for the coming season. While the all-new Venom stole the show with its 1640cc 45-degree V-twin engine, the FAST team also outlined a number of updates to its 2-stroke lineup.
All 11 2-stroke models will use the Rapid Reaction Team Industries roller secondary. Engineering chief Gerard Karpik also indicated that the transmission system will feature a new Gates Mountain Extreme belt for improved performance and durability. Also, the gearbox has been retooled to provide a vent to eliminate the oil weeping found on prior models. Polaris' dual timing curve ignition will be a standard feature on all Blade sleds this year as well. The cooling system has been enlarged to provide ample protection for the Liberty engines, going from 184 to 276 square inches of exchanger surface. The tunnel has been stiffened through improved bracing.
All Blades will have a serious redesign in cosmetic treatments. FAST announced that it will be using a new, more readable digital gauge on the dash. Also, the company will have a full complement of windshield height options available through its dealers.
Look for Polaris' electronic reverse, PERC, to be available as a standard item on the Striker X 700 and 800 models, and as a dealer option for all other Blades, except the 600 HPO. Also announced for this year is an electric start option on all 700 and 800 machines.
Blade will be reducing the MSRP on all of its sleds this season, allowing consumers to bring one home for as little as $12,999. Stop by our Buyers Guide for specs and pricing on the 2003 Blade Snowmobiles.
