The Regional Director for the Environmental Protection Agency in Denver, Robert Roberts, recently sent a letter to Yellowstone National Park claiming that snowmobile emissions are underestimated in the park's analysis.
Ed Klim of the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association (ISMA) then sent a letter to Roberts requesting a copy of the analysis and work performed by his office. Apparently, the ISMA wants to have the EPA's work reviewed by a third party research firm to establish its accuracy.
The first draft of Yellowstone's Snowmobiling Rules and Guidelines were released in mid-July introducing a reservation system and limiting the number and types of sleds allowed into the park daily.
