duluth race delayed

Nature was working overtime this Thanksgiving weekend, and the fog and rains that came down at the Amsoil Duluth National snocross in Duluth, Minn., were enough to postpone the event.

After a fun Friday of X-Games qualifying heats and Pro Stock qualifiers, rumors of impending fog and rain started to move through the race pits. Racing continued on Saturday, but the fog and rain overtook the event Sunday. The World Powersports Association (WPSA) and the Duluth Convention and Visitors Bureau postponed action after waiting 3 hours for the weather to pass. The remaining races will be run in Gaylord, Mich., on Dec. 17. Amsoil will still be the title sponsor for that day's racing.

"We chose to err on the side of safety and stop the event," said Blair Bodley, Powersports Snowmobile Tour race director. "Though we are unhappy about postponing the events, we had to keep in mind the safety of our fans, our riders and our officials."
