With his win at Budd's Creek, Jeff Cullen took over the points lead on the Abbotts Power Equipment 2007 Polaris IQ. There were a lot of fast sleds zooming at last weekend's NSA Pro Stock asphalt sled race at Maryland Int'l Raceway in Budd's Creek, Md. For the 1/4 mile, there were 8 sleds running 8.4-8.5 seconds and 4 other snowmobiles running 8.6-8.7 seconds.
A new record was set by runner up Paul Austin of Jackson, Mich., aboard his '05 Ski-Doo CK3. He ran 8.353 ET in the first round of eliminations and then backed it up with a 8.213-second pass during the second round of eliminations. Awesome. Cullen beat him out however, with a better reaction time.
The finale to the NSA Championship points series is the Camoplast Challenge at the New England Dragway in Epping, N.H., on Sept. 8, 2007. Cullen, Austin and Armstrong will battle it out for the NSA title and a $2,500 purse.
