congress reaffirms new national parks rules

Nov. 23, 2004 - - Legislation passed by both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives last weekend will keep Yellowstone National Park open for winter recreation.

The legislation affirms the rules recently passed by the National Parks Service to continue limited, commercially guided snowmobile and snowcoach access to the park on groomed roads.

"We are confident this will be a great year for winter enthusiasts in the Yellowstone area. We believe the truth will prevailand the environmental assessment recommendations, announced by the National Parks Service , will be validated and Americans will continue to enjoy the park with their families and friends far into the future," said Ed Klim, president of the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association, in a press release.
