The Anchorage Snowmobile Club has alerted us that the Federal Government has extended the period for comments on the closure of Denali National Park to snowmobiles until Dec. 15, 1998.
The Anchorage club also asks that snowmobilers send an email to the
denalisnowmachinecomments@nps.govto voice your opinion on the closure of Denali National Park Wilderness Area to snowmobiles. In its action alert, the club states, "Tell them no closure should happen until the Park Service has completed an adequate review and issues a 'record of determination of resource damage' as required by the Code of Federal Regulations, 43 CFR 36.11." Snowmobilers are also asked to urge the Alaskan Congressional Delegation, as well as their own Congressional Delegation to delay the implementation of the closure plan until further study can be completed.
