colorado to require nonresident permit

Amsnow
Beginning Jan. 1, 2004 non-resident snowmobilers in Colorado will be required to purchase a special permit. Currently, non-residents are not required to have a permit if they are registered in another state or country.

The Colorado State Parks Board approved the request of the Colorado Snowmobile Association to implement the new non-resident permit, which will cost $20.25, the same price as in-state registration. Permits will be available at the Colorado State Parks offices and some snowmobile dealers.

Funds generated from non-resident permit sales will go toward the winter trail grooming program run by the Colorado State Parks Snowmobile Program.

State park officials estimate that 3,000 to 5,000 non-resident permits will be sold during the first season, according to an online article by Snowmobile News.
