A record 137 vintage sleds were displayed this year at the Classic Sled Roundup presented by Arctic Cat on May 27, 2007, in St. Germain, Wis. There was a 30% increase in the swap area and a new invited displayer's area for those with particularly unique collections.
Mike Trapp, a local hero from Minocqua, Wis., also made an appearance. His 1973 Ski-Doo Blizzard was on display for the first time since its 3-year restoration by John Jantsch of Wausau, Wis. John has restored several sleds currently on display at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame Museum in St. Germain. Real LaRachelle, Mike's mechanic and original sled builder from the Ski-Doo factory team came from Montreal, Canada for the event. It was the first time the sled, driver and mechanic were reunited in 34 years.
Brent Schut of Deerton, Mich., won the best of show award with his 1947 Eliason Motor Toboggan, and best Arctic Cat award went to Tom and Nancy Ische of Glencoe, Minn., for their 1975 Arctic SnoPro 650. Pleasing the crowd was the Bud Snow-King dragster, reaching 200 mph with Paul Groth at the saddle.
