OUT IN THE mountains there are two things the hardcore riders want, at least in their sleds, less weight and more power.
Cat has plenty of power with its M1000 Sno Pro and its husky 1000cc 2-stroke, and last year all Cat's mountain machines dropped 20 lbs with a new engine reverse system and revised front suspension and rear tunnel.
This year the mountain sleds lose another 7 lbs. with a blowmolded seat base that cuts 5 and new plastic skis that save another 2 lbs. The skis are wider and stiffer with a deeper keel, but the seat may be the most noticeable change from both a looks and riding standpoint.
