Aug. 2, 2004-Bombardier Recreational Products says it will sell its industrial division based in Granby, Quebec to Camplast Inc.

BRP's Granby manufacturing facility makes snowgroomers for many North American ski resorts and a line of tracked vehicles used in natural resources, energy and telecom industries around the world, according to the firm. The sale, which is scheduled to be complete by Aug. 30, includes an agreement to maintain current jobs and manufacturing operations in the facility.

"The sale of the industrial division is in line with our company's strategic focus, which is designed to maximize the synergies between our various products and manufacturing facilities. BRP will therefore concentrate its energies in the development and manufacturing of recreational products," said BRP's President and CEO Jose Boisjoli in a press release.

BRP is the maker of Ski-Doo and Linx snowmobiles; Sea-Doo watercraft and sportboats; Johnson and Evinrude outboard engines; and direct injection technologies like Evinrude E-TEC, Bombardier ATVs, Rotax engines and carts.

Camoplast, based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, is the maker of rubber tracks and composite and plastic components for heavy vehicles in the recreational, agricultural, transportation and industrial markets.
