brp recalls snowmobiles due to fire hazard

Amsnow
The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by BRP U.S. Inc., of Sturtevant, Wis., in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

About 430 snowmobiles were recalled by Ski-Doo because friction between the fuel hose and the cylinder head cover on the machines can cause the hose to pierce. This can cause fuel to leak out, posing a fire hazard.

There have been two reports of fuel leakage and five additional reports of hose wear. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

The recall involves the following Ski-Doo models:
-2007 and 2008 Expedition TUV V800 Deep Red/Black
-2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 Yellow/Black

The model names are located on the side panel.

Note: The 2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 Snowmobiles were previously recalled due to explosion hazard.

These snowmobiles were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2006 through May 2008 for about $10,000, manufactured in Finland.

Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact any Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair. Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent a direct notice from BRP.

For more info, contact BRP toll-free at 888-638-5397 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday-Friday, or visit www.ski-doo.com.
