March 18, 2005 - - Bombardier Recreational Products has announced that it plans to spend about $10 million to renovate and modernize its Valcourt, Quebec plant this summer.

The work, scheduled to occur between May and October in about 150,000 square feet of the plant, will include the installation of new, more reliable equipment and an increase in assembly capacity. BRP says the work will have no impact on this summer's production.

BRP President and CEO Jose Boisjoli said in a press release that the investment will consolidate the productivity gains BRP has seen in the last year and confirms the firm's commitment to maintain Valcourt as its assembly facility. "We will change the way we assemble our vehicles and this will enable us to remain competitive at a time when external pressures show no sign of leveling off," Boisjoli said.
