brp helmet receives design kudos

BRP's popular BV2s helmet is earning some national design recognition more than a year after it went on sale.

The July 4 edition of Business Week magazine cites the helmet as worthy of one of its annual "Design Awards." In fact, the helmet that delivers a space-age look earned a silver medal in the Image Enhancers category, one that the magazine says opens up "new market spaces for their brands."

Business Week bestows these awards on makers of products that embrace not only function, but design. The focus is recognizing companies that are creating products that are out of the ordinary and eye catching as well as functionally superior or designed to solve complex problems.

The BRP helmet ($449 list) was chosen for its anti-fogging capabilities, increased vision, side mounted lighting and futuristic looks. The magazine says it helped open new business opportunities for Quebec-based BRP.

Who got the gold medal?

Nike won for its ACG CommVEST, a mountain search and rescue vest that costs $175 and includes a speaker and microphone in the collar. Maybe our mountain sled riders could use that too!
