Ski-Doo's Ross Erdman won the United States Cross-Country (USCC) circuit's Red Lake I-500 on Feb. 18th, finishing the 3-day race 8 minutes and 16 seconds ahead of Gabe Bunke on a Polaris. Brian Dick came in third on an Arctic Cat F6.
The 25-year-old Erdman turned Sunday's 170-mile lap 12 seconds faster than he did on Saturday. Tom Lawrence, Ski-Doo Race Coordinator, said, "I told him to bring the iron horse home." Erdman's sled ran rough Sunday, but after re-fueling, the sled ran well.
For the most part Bunke said his sled ran well too, except in tight twists, where the clutch setup didn't work as well.
More than 70 sleds started the race Friday, but by Saturday there were 46, many dropping out due to broken equipment.
