Arctic Cat ended its search for a key marketing vice-president when it named 43-year-old Robert Bonev to the position. The former Outboard Marine Corporation senior VP of corporate marketing will report directly to Cat's president and CEO, Christopher Twomey.

"Robert's extensive marketing savvy, particularly in outdoor recreation products, will support our efforts to further build Arctic Cat's industry-leading brand," Twomey stated.

Bonev, previously also held senior marketing positions at Mercury Marine and its MerCruiser Division as well as being vice president of sales and marketing for Continental Motors, a division of Allegheny Teledyne.

The financial difficulties encountered by OMC, the $1.4 billion manufacturer and distributors of pleasure boats and Evinrude and Johnson brand engines is proving a good thing for Arctic Cat in being able to find a person of Bonev's talents. OMC was recently broken off into two parts with Bombardier taking over the marine engine portion and Genmar Industries taking over the pleasure boat companies.

Bonev replaces Mark Blackwell who left Arctic Cat to become general manager of Polaris Industries' Victory motorcycle group.

Arctic Cat has displayed positive growth led by its increasingly in demand line of Arctic Cat all-terrain vehicles which currently exceed industry growth percentages. Arctic Cat, located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, has annual revenues of more than $530 million.
