The Bolt Padlock 2.0 from Strattec Security Corp. allows you to secure your gear without carrying countless keys. Bolt’s One-Key Lock Technology, the Padlock 2.0, eliminates the need to carry extra keys or memorize combinations by permanently programming to lock and unlock using your vehicle’s ignition key.
“Our Padlock 2.0 product is ideal for activities like snowmobiling, four wheeling, jet skiing, and racing because it allows enthusiasts to secure multiple gates, outbuildings and enclosed trailers all with one key,” says sales manager Erika Garcia. “Because the Padlock 2.0 uses a vehicle’s ignition key, hobbyists can save valuable time by ensuring they’ll never get to their destination and not be able to unlock and use their gear.”
Bolt’s Padlock 2.0 locks, which don’t come equipped with their own key, are programmed during the first use: When drivers insert their ignition key into the padlock cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
Featuring a sleek design and double ball bearing locking mechanism, Padlock 2.0 has a spring-loaded, chrome-plated 5/16-inch diameter hardened steel shackle inside a crush-resistant shell. It includes an automotive-grade, stainless steel lock shutter to keep out weather and debris, as well as a 6-plate tumbler sidebar that prevents picking and bumping.
The Bolt Padlock 2.0 works with most GM (early and late models), Ford and Dodge vehicles. Bolt also comes in a Trailer Spare Tire Lock version and is made with a nickel-plated carbon steel pin or shaft assembly/shield for strength and durability. Additional BOLT locks, such as receiver locks and cable locks also are available. More info:
