Bill Townsend, former president of the Wyoming State Snowmobile Association and chairman of the Western chapter of the American Council of Snowmobile Associations (ACSA), was killed last week in a car crash.
He's well known in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho for his involvement with the sport, especially the Jackson Hill Climb (where he was crowned "King of the Hill") and the Clean Snowmobile Challenge. Townsend also had been awarded the Wyoming Governor's Award for Snowmobiler of the Year and also was named "Snowmobiler of Year" by the ACSA.
With his family, the ACSA has created a scholarship fund in Townsend's memory. Contributions can be made to the Bill Townsend Memorial Scholarship Fund, and mailed to Teri Manning, P.O. Box 4339, Jackson, WY 83001.
