Olav Aaen announced a series of high performance twin pipes for snowmobiling's top line 800cc twin cylinder sports sleds. The head of Aaen Performance in Racine, Wisconsin, says that his company has developed new pipes for Arctic Cat's ZR 800, Polaris' XC 800, and Ski-Doo's MXZ 800.

Aaen told AMERICAN SNOWMOBILER, "The biggest improvement came with the ZR800 which showed a gain of 15 to 20 miles per hour at top end. It had a good improvement in midrange, too."

The new Aaen twin pipes for Polaris' XC800 models demonstrated a gain of three to four sled lengths in initial acceleration compared to a stock 800 model.
While you gain power, Aaen says that his new twin pipes save more than 10 pounds in weight compared to the stock single exhaust systems they replace. The new pipes are packed with sound deadener to keep the noise levels down to stock limits.

"Unless you lift the hood and look to see the twin pipes," notes Aaen, "you probably wouldn't suspect the sled had our pipes."

In addition to the new twin pipes, Aaen Performance offers a new single pipe setup for the popular Polaris Indy 600 twin. The simple bolt-on system is said to add more than six horsepower over the stock exhaust while subtracting 20 pounds from stock. Aaen also offers a twin pipe setup good for a 15-plus horsepower boost to the popular 600cc Polaris twin.

To maximize performance from his firm's new twin pipes, Aaen has created special clutch kits that include lighter fly weights to accommodate the rise in peak revs achieved by the higher performance exhaust system.
