big four financials looking good
Amsnow
Sales are up for the "Big Four" manufacturers, with the latest financial statements indicating each is well on its way to a more successful fiscal year than the previous year.
For several manufacturers, a large growth in snowmobile sales has been a driving force behind earnings increases. Sales, which include all products made by Polaris, Ski-Doo, Yamaha, and Arctic Cat, increased in the latest quarter of 2004 when compared with same quarter 2003 numbers. Due to differences in company fiscal years, not all numbers represent the same quarter for each firm.
Polaris
Sales for Polaris were $422 million for the second quarter. That's a 12% increase from 2003 when the numbers reached $377 million for the period. A 65% rise in sled sales helped fuel Polaris' sales rocket.
Ski-Doo
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., or BRP, showed a revenue increase of 22.3% from last year at this time. BRP's sales hit $630 million for their first quarter, a $115 million jump from last year.
Yamaha
Yamaha Worldwide has reported first quarter earnings of $2.8 billion, up 14.8% compared to a year earlier. Yamaha doesn't release specific numbers on snowmobile sales.
Arctic Cat
Minnesota-based Cat reported a 33% climb in sales for its first quarter to almost $103 million, which is a $25 million increase from 2003's first quarter numbers. Sled sales contributed strongly to the increase, jumping 46% so far in 2004.
