Dealer Prep
Even with dealer prep, the results remained the same. The Cat, most powerful, was still the fastest. The Ski-Doo Mach Z and Yamaha Vmax-4 were close, but the Mach Z proved it was still the quickest overall. The Indy Stormproved very receptive to dealer preparation as its quarter mile ETs droppedmore than a second and top speed increased by three to 98 miles per hour. There are reasons that Polaris Indys are the darlings of the aftermarket, and being receptive to tweaking and tuning has to be among them.

The folks at Big Moose brought the Thundercat's speed up to 107 milesper hour and its ET down to 8.17 in the eighth and 11.88 in the quarter. The sled turned 92 mph in the eighth! That was best overall.

Tom Smith of Smith Marine got the Mach Z over the century mark with abest run of 101 miles per hour, despite no increase in the eighth wherethe sled showed consecutive 85s. The ET was cut to 8.03 in the eighth anddropped to 11.84 in the quarter.

The Vmax-4 had ETs of 8.41 in the eighth, 12.45 in the quarter and abest quarter mile run at 100 mph even.

Say what you will with these results, with a well tuned Vmax or MachZ you could catch an unsuspecting T-Cat rider or two. Just don't run theT-Cat for top speed, stick to short distances and low ETs and you'll havea shot at ticking off a T-Cat owner. Don't count on doing it twice though.Horsepower is king and the Cat has the high hand when it comes to power.
