Q: I bought a used VDO tachometer without the owner's manual. It came with a battery pack consisting of 6 AA batteries, is this what everyone uses? Also, there was a switch that came with it. Do you leave the switch on when the sled is running, giving power for the playback when the sled is off?

A: We use a rechargeable drill battery for our units and you can also put a regulator rectifier on the sled and have the sled charge and run the VDO. You need a minimum 9.5 volts to run it. The switch should be for the power source, and it also works for clearing the recorded runs off the VDO.
