Arctic Cat has reported a total net sales increase of 5% for the first quarter of 2006 fiscal year that ended June 30,2005,compared to the same time last year. Sales in fiscal year 2005 were $102.6 million and increased to $107.9m in 2006.
ATV sales again propelled Arctic Cat to record sales heights, and were supplemented by an 3% sales increase in the snowmobile market. Sled sales rose to $52 million from $50.7m. Earlier sales of sleds to dealers helped prop up these numbers. Sales of parts and garments also jumped to $14.5 million from $12.7m.
Arctic Cat President Christopher Twomey says he believes that net sales will grow between 3-5% for 2006, but margins will be much tighter due to a forecasted decline in sled sales, increased raw material costs and a worse yen/dollar exchange rate than this past year.
