Arctic Cat has voluntarily recalled all its 2010 Sno Pro 500 snowmobiles (about 1300 units) due to a potential fuel leak hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
According to USPSC's website, fuel can leak from the fuel pump at the fuel pump mounting screws. This poses a fire hazard.
"What we have seen is some porosity/air pockets in the plastic around the molding of the aluminum retaining ring that holds the fuel pump down. Fuel follows the air pocket and can eventually come up through the screws on the fuel pump assy. Most often this occurs with a filled/topped off tank and/or when the sled is tipped on its side," said Kale Wainer, Arctic Cat spokesperson.
There have been two reports of fuel leakage, but no injuries have been reported.
These snowmobiles were sold nationwide from October 2009 to February 2010 for between $7,800 and $8,200.
Riders should immediately stop using their snowmobile and contact their local Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair. Cat has notified registered owners directly about this recall through the mail.
