August 11, 2005 - - Arctic Cat announced today its plans to build a new ATV engine manufacturing and research/development facility in St. Cloud, Minn.
Arctic Cat CEO Chris Twomey announced the plans in a press conference held in Minn. Governor Tim Pawlenty's office this morning.
The 56,000 foot plant is set to expand production and product development of the new 650H1 ATV engine designed by Arctic Cat. It will sit on 15 acres, and another 40 acre test track will surround the plant. There's also room to expand the physical plant structure to 200,000 feet, if necessary.
Cat reports that it'll start building in 2006, and plans to have the facility operational in 2007. The facility should generate 50 new positions, according to Cat.
With an initial price-tag of around $8 million, Cat is heavily investing in their ATV division and the state of Minnesota. Hopefully the growth of Cat's ATV division will not cause them to neglect their snow business. We'll see!
