arctic cat confirms limited ss troubles

In response to a question from one of our Online Riders Club members, we asked Arctic Cat about a rumored problem with its initial-build Smart Ride sleds. Member 'rburns' asked about dealers having to perform modifications to the housing on the Smart Ride. This is the response we received from Arctic Cat suspension engineer Doug Braswell:

"Yes, we have had some reports back from the field concerning the shock mounting brackets contacting the Remote Reservior on the rear arm shock. The problem is very isolated and in 50,000 miles of testing, we never had this problem." He further explained that there is always a difference between the hand-built development sleds and the ones that come off the assembly line under full production conditions.

"There is also the concern that the pull rods were placed in the wrong position and this will cause contact," he added. "The problem is very isolated and Engineering is very aware of the condition, and has invested every possible resource into making sure this does not occur again.

"Service is hot on the trail of this issue also, creating diagrams that show the potential problem and how to grind away the shock mounting bracket if necessary."
