American Snowmobiler’s 21st Annual New York Shootout is set for Friday Dec. 10, with Saturday as a back-up day. That’s in case of another blizzard like we had last year that played havoc with everything from track grooming to our timing lights. The Shootout will again be in Woodgate, N.Y., which is near Old Forge, just east of Tug Hill and only a couple hours north and west of Syracuse.

Each year the Shootout gives AmSnow the first true on-snow acceleration tests for all the manufacturers’ new stock sleds. This year that includes the Ski-Doo 800 E-TEC, Polaris 800 Rush and Yamaha Apex. In addition, we will be running modestly hopped up trail modified sleds and some wild top horsepower lake racers built by some of the most famous aftermarket companies in the business.

We’ll post some of the data on our website, but you’ll see a full report, including dyno test stats of all the stock sleds, in our February issue. Again this year the dyno data is provided by Dynotech Research, which also helps us run and coordinate the Shootout. Traction for all the stock sleds will be provided by Woody’s, while the other main sponsor will be Spectro Oils, along with AmSnow and Dynotech.
