amsnowcom experiences 220 growth during peak sledding

Amsnow

During the prime snowmobiling months of January through March 2001, successful hits for amsnow.com increased more than 220 percent versus the first six months of 2000. During that same period, amsnow.com page viewership averaged nearly 2 million per month, up nearly 300 percent over the six-month period in 2000.

Compared to 2000, amsnow.com visitors averaged nearly 15 minutes per visit, up 20 percent from last year. When you factor in the number of visits and the length per visit, snowmobilers spent the equivalent of 15.4 years at the amsnow.com site.

"We are pleased that the constant effort we put into upgrading our site and the effort of the American Snowmobiler editorial and photo crews is serving the needs of the world's snowmobilers," stated Jerry Bassett, American Snowmobiler Publisher/Editor.

"It's humbling to look at our site's growth and realize that the snowmobiling community looks to the American Snowmobiler presence on the internet as a premiere source of snowmobiling information. They count on our editors to provide them with a constant and credible flow of news about the sport of snowmobiling. That's why we integrate interactive "consumer reviews," send our editors to our proprietary test area to provide real-world performance reports on selected new sleds, and spent more than a month's worth of staff time test-riding, evaluating and photographing the 2002 models in West Yellowstone.

While there's snow on the ground at our test site, our editors will continue testing sleds and products. Look for results of their work at both amsnow.com and our traditional print-format magazine.

"We are committed to the sport of snowmobiling and our readership. We gladly accept the challenge of providing insightful and credible information in our magazine and on the amsnow.com web site," Bassett emphasized.

With snowmobilers making 23 million successful hits and nearly six million page views at the height of the snowmobiling season, www.amsnow.com ranks as the most active snowmobiling web "pit stop" on the cyber-sled trail. According to WebTrends, an independent data tracking resource, 20 percent of amsnow.com online readers visit more than once a month.

Amsnow.com pioneered cyber-sledding when it was first established in 1995 and continues to break trail as the "e-zine" sister publication of American Snowmobiler. While many of the archival features of American Snowmobiler print magazine are found on the amsnow.com site, visitors quickly discover that the amsnow.com web magazine has its own personality and unique features that are updated frequently. Combined the two publications provide a total information resource for today's 21st century snowmobile enthusiasts.
