AD Boivin and World Snowmobile Association officials announced the final details surrounding the creation of the Official WSA SnowBike race class for the 2002-2003 season.
"The SnowBike class and the addition of the Snow Hawk to the WSA show have received a great response from fans and sponsors alike so far," said WSA president Joe Duncan. "SnowBike is a marketing tool to bring the thousands upon thousands of motocross riders to the snowmobile industry. The Snow Hawk is a stepping-stone to help more motocross riders make an easier transition into winter motorsports, whether they are interested in the Snow Hawk or a snowmobile. Once hooked on the SnowBike, most will then try the regular classes as well, and this will bring more riders and competition to the already exploding world of snocross. The addition of the Snow Hawk to the WSA roster is great for the growth of snocross in general."
Quilt Racing - Vig Motorsports has been officially signed as the AD Boivin factory-backed team for this year and will be featuring brothers Scott and Andy Vig as well as Mathieu Buteau on the track during the upcoming race season.
"Racers really have a great opportunity to get a taste of the high-flying Snow Hawk first hand and on the track," commented AD Boivin race director Rob Pilgrim. "We're offering an excellent deal for new racers wanting to come into the class, with financing available for racers that have a good resume. Limited seats are available on a first come, first served basis. Several top ten snocross teams have approached us, but virtually anybody with a pick-up truck can race! That's the beauty of racing the Hawk, no massive support team or expensive parts inventory is necessary. Just get on the track and go nuts!"
This year, the Snow Hawk will not only be a crowd pleaser, but there will also be some fierce competition on the track in pursuit of the cash prizes that are up for grabs at each of the WSA national events. Here's what they'll be racing for:
1st: $2,000
2nd: $750
3rd: $250
