Arctic Cat's just released ZR 900 is said to be the most powerful production twin available. Built in limited numbers, the mega-powerful 2003 ZR 900 comes in response to consumer demand for powerful, high performance lightweight twins. This Cat's Suzuki-built motor spins out 150 horsepower from a new 862cc liquid-cooled twin. It's complete engine with exclusive Arctic Power Valves for a broad power range and exceptional out-of-the-hole punch.

The mid-year release has plenty of eye candy. The graphic package includes ZR green hood and pan, flamed green windshield, unpainted tunnel, silver A-arms and spindles, green skis, two-tone seat, and three digits on the hood's side beginning with "9."

Riders will appreciate the ZR 900's use of race inspired, wide running boards and Sno Pro handlebars with adjustable riser block for comfort and riding style. ZR handling control comes from the AWS V front suspension and Arctic Cat's FasTrack Long-Travel Rear Suspension with Extra Travel Tunnel (ETT) and Torque Sensing Link (TSL) plus Arctic Cat High Performance shocks, front and rear.

"This new machine is going to get snowmobilers very excited regardless of what brand they ride," according to Robert Bonev, Arctic Cat's Vice President of Marketing. "With the volume of horsepower, one ride on this machine and they'll be hooked, it's just that fun and exciting."

In addition to the trail 900, Arctic Cat Inc. reinforces its commitment to the mountain segment with the Mountain Cat 900 1M. But, wait, there's more than just a sled in Cat's revised Western rider plans.

The mid-year release Mountain Cat is designed to leave no doubt as to Cat's intention of capturing the number one spot in the west.

The sled is lightweight, reflecting a weight savings of 35 pounds that came through chassis improvements and the use of lighter parts.

The sled is more powerful thanks to the new 862cc liquid-cooled twin and its robust 150 horses. Bottom line is a sled with exceptional power-to-weight, critical to deep powder adventurers.

Dropping weight and adding a powerhouse motor are just part of the "trick" new Mountain Cat. Additionally, the chaincases were dropped and rolled, giving the track a better angle of attack, improving handling and ski contact. What's more, consumers benefit from a 151- x 2-inch track for maximum flotation.

Up front, the Mountain Cat 900 1M offers easily adjustable ski stances for both boondocking maneuverability and trail riding stability. Owners can switch from a 41-inch stance to a 39-inch width and back again in just minutes. And just like the Cats of previous years, the 900 1M receives the raised handlebars with the center grip, designed expressly for the needs of mountain riders.

Robert Bonev, Cat marketing veep, adds: "We've devoted specialized mountain personnel, additional finances, a new facility, and even a western focused team pledged to showcase our technology on the hillclimbs. I'd like this to send a clear, positive message to our dealers and customers that the time has come. We wait no more!"

Both new 900 1M mountain sled and the ZR 900 trail versions are set to arrive at dealerships in late January. The Mountain Cat has a suggested retail $8,799 U.S. with the ZR 900 priced at $8,499 U.S.
