86 members of Congress are asking the National Park Service to get rid of snowmobiles in Yellowstone National Park. They contend the agency is ignoring the increased noise and air pollution that would result from a plan to allow up to 540 of the machines daily.
They are in favor of a smaller number of guided snowcoaches, rather than the reduction plan of 540 snowmobiles from 720 that is currently being debated and will be released in the next 3 weeks from the National Park Service.
