Tested & Recommended: Z-Cap Enclosed Trailer From Addit, Inc.
When we first saw the Z-Cap pull into our parking lot, it caught a lotof attention from the guys in the office down the hall. This was not thelast time we would be answering questions about our shiny new space shuttle-styledtrailer. Everybody wanted to know about this bad boy.
Here's the skinny: The Z-Cap trailer is a fiberglass enclosure that fitson 14, 16, 18 or 20 foot long trailers. It has a torsion spring assistedpull down rear door which is easy to open and close. The front featuresan electric-lift nosepiece. The lift's operation is simple enough, you threadthe power line through your tow vehicle's wire harness and it snaps intothe key switch. Turn the key and the nose raises or lowers. The Z-Cap alsohas a 110 volt power connection so you can plug it into your garage or motelroom.
The fiberglass top is tall enough in the rear for a normal human to standstraight up. Addit owner Ron Benoit explained that he wanted to make a trailerthat was large enough for snowmobilers to be comfortable when they loadedand unloaded their sleds. "The problem with making a tall trailer iswind resistance," he added. "So we spent some time working onaerodynamics and developed the Z-Cap."
Based on our season of pulling the 16-foot "Shuttle," as weaffectionately named it, we can honestly say that it is as light pullingas the smaller, two-place enclosed trailer we had the season before. Thetwin axle aluminum trailer managed the weight of three sleds with ease, and the two-tiered design of the top flowed air up and around the unit withoutsignificant drag.
If you're in the market for a light-towing, user-friendly enclosed trailerthat will be easy to find in the parking lot, we would recommend you takea look at the Z-Cap.
