RMK and Assault
Polaris uses its Quickdrive system on its mountain sleds instead of a traditional chaincase and the weight saving and ‘flicakbility’ of the RMK sets it apart from past sleds. This is why so many pro back-country and hillclimb racer guys choose RMK. It has the carbon fiber overstucture again for 2015, Powdertrac running boards with fantastic snow-evacuation capabilities, the structural bonding that made the Pro-R famous and perfect mountain riding ergos. At 417 lbs. dry, it is still the lightest 155-inch mountain sled in the industry, but this year Polaris is hitting the customization bell hard.
With so much time and resources going into the Axys platform the RMK gets a break this year, but Polaris is letting you build your mountain sled specific to your liking for Snowcheck. Tracks, rails, bars, decals, tunnel, suspension and more can be customized. Choose the Pro (lightest), Assault (backcountry/free-riders) or RMK (all purpose) versions of the mountain sled, THEN choose your colors for the panels, tunnel and rails, THEN choose your bars, shocks, storage and any other options. Plus, there are four limited models including a 60th anniversary, a Pink Ribbon Riders (proceeds to PRR) and two Terrain Dominator series editions to choose from in addition to all the other options. My head is spinning!
Last, but not least, my personal fave Polaris’ from the last two years are still available... the 600 and 800 Switchback Assault 144. These are unequaled 50/50 sleds if you like to ride on/off-trail without skipping a beat. You can get all the cool customization features of the RMK in the Switchback Assault for 2015 too.
