The Suzuki-designed 1056cc 4-stroke also offers good power, although not quite the kick we feel in the Yamaha. It doesn't have as racy a tone either. This and the Ski-Doo are more on a par for power bands, both start to really wind out well after 30-40 mph. However, the Cat seems to have the least engine braking once you let off the throttle, making it feel the most like a 2-stroke.
If you need more power and don't mind spending more money, there is a Z1 turbo for $12,899, or $13,499 for the luxurious Turbo LXR model. As it is, the Z1 LXR starts at $10,799, a good price considering all its extras.
Cat made other improvements to the Z1 for this season, a new seat with zippered pouch in back cuts 8 lbs. from the sled and more open patterned running boards further reduce weight and cut snow build-up.
Arctic also added a more durable heat exchanger to keep the sled from overheating and in back there is a new LED taillight and flap. The LXR also comes with a removable storage bag in the rear.
