Cat's target for the suspension calibration was aggressive trail and cross country riders. Consumers who want a rougher snocross calibration, and compression and rebound adjustability, can always buy the same shocks and springs used on the 600 race sled separately.
Effectively harnessing this sled's ponies and putting it to the snow via clutching is important on this sled in particular and the drive clutch is the usual Arctic RPM sensing primary. However, the Sno Pro 500 comes with the Team driven (secondary) clutch, unlike the F-series sleds that have the ACT driven clutch. The TEAM driven clutch has been heralded for its performance on many models from several manufacturers, not just Cat. We were happy with it too!
The tubular 4130 chrome-moly and extruded aluminum frame uses pyramidal construction and is extremely strong. Yet, this sled is comfortable and surprisingly warm enough to be a long distance trail rider as well. Unlike other "race-replica" sleds, this one is ready for the trail too with a slightly higher and more protective windshield than comparable sleds with super-ultra-low, infant-sized windshields.
Cat's new PSS (Progressive Steering System) offers a small turning radius and easier turning too. The sled is at home in tight corners or big sweepers and riders of almost any size and strength will be able to handle this sled.
There, are also adjustable steering post mounts for a change of handlebar position. The lightweight single ply 15x128x1.25-inch Cobra track has got a lot of grip too as its contact patch is a little larger than the standard 15x121-inch short-trackers on the market.
Finally, At 450 lbs. dry (OEM tested) this sled is the second lightest in this comparison.
