Woodgate, N.Y. - The irony is overwhelming - TOO MUCH snow for a snowmobile event. But that's exactly what happened this year at our 20th annual Adirondack Shootout.
For 24 hours one of the biggest snowstorms we've ever experienced bombarded the small town of Woodgate, near Old Forge, N.Y. The super storm was enhanced by big lake effect snow bands rolling off Lake Ontario and dumping up to 3-feet of snow, in just over a day. At one point the local weatherman cited that the storm was generating up to 4 inches of snow an hour in certain locales!
As you can imagine our snowmobiling hearts were loving the massive blizzard, but our magazine brains were focused on trying to run an event in the wicked whiteout.
Here's how it all shook out.
