2006 polaris race sled announced

The new mantra for Polaris snowmobiling is "Winning Performance." More than a buzz phrase for its 2005-06 racing effort, "Winning Performance" embraces Polaris' attempt to reconnect with its customers both on and off the track.

Polaris feels good about its pilots earning four World Snowmobile Association year-end points championships last year as well as three international snocross titles. But now Polaris snowmobile division general manager, Eric Lindquist says he expects the team to work on total domination.

To achieve that, Polaris has unveiled its 440 IQ racer for the 2006 snocross season and promises a lighter, better handling and more durable sled. The sled was first shown publicly Sept. 10 at Haydays in Lino Lakes, Minn. Here are some early photos of it!

Note that the sled has shed 10 pounds partially due to a new Walker Evans "spring-less" front shock in the rear suspension. Plus two drive wheels were eliminated. The sled's bulkhead also was reworked to make it more durable, a big plus on the racetrack.
More info is coming soon in the December issue, plus the January Racing Issue too!
